Will PLC interfere with UPB lighting?
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:54:16 AM »
I am assessing TED Pro as a possible system with my home automation.  I am using HAI/Leviton UPB lighting, does anyone know if the PLC being used by TED will interfere with my UPB lighting?  The UPB sends commands across the power lines so sounds similar to PLC but not sure if it uses a different frequency.

Hello Wdeertz,

It looks like UPB lighting is transmitted at a frequency of 4 to 40 kHz where as the TED Pro Home transmits closer to 120 kHz. There is still a possibility for interference, but you can get an in-line filter for the TED Pro Home and isolate it from the rest of your panel. http://www.theenergydetective.com/in-line-wired-noise-filter.html

I have both systems installed and they do not interfere with each other. Currently using Omnipro II / UPB / HAI Lighting and Ted Pro 16 zones.
