Spyder Totals don't add up..
« on: September 18, 2014, 08:14:03 PM »
I'm trying to find where I may have my Spyder misconfigured...

The SPY1 should be the sum of the spyder legs.. Which is way off....

Hello santhony,

Under Help and About, what are the firmware revisions listed there?

Hello santhony,

How exactly are your totals not adding up? In the screenshot, ACall is the sum of all your AC circuits, which is correct. SPY 1 is the total of all your spyder legs (minus the ACall, I'm assuming, as that would be reading all your AC circuits twice) and is also correct.

Yes, ACALL is correct.. SPY1 should actually be equal to the sum of ACALL + OVEN.. Which would be equal to 120.7...

Spy1 is currently showing 609.9KWH.

The way I understand it should be reading, for my SPY1...Is the sum of my 4 circuits on the spyder.. I'm only using 4, with 4 unused..

Circuit 1 - AC_FAN_D    7.3KWH MTD
Circuit 2 - OVEN           4.0KWH MTD
Circuit 3 - AC_UNITS   95.9KWH MTD
Circuit 4 - AC_FAN_U  13.4KWH MTD

TOTAL                      120.6KWH MTD

I believe I found the source of the issue... I had recently set the the spy1 sum up recently, past 3 days... I noticed on the graph, looking back the 3 days, to see if it actually showed this usage.. And I found a spyder spike.... LOL

See the photo below.. It has a spike of almost 2 Mega Watts...  So I just think it was a one time.. anomaly.. If I reset my spy1 counter, it'll probably be fine..  Also attaching a shot of my settings, just so you can see everything..

Hi santhony,

Oh, indeed that would cause the total to be skewed. You could export and save your data and do a history clear if you wanted to remove that spike. Can you think of anything that could have caused the spike? Did you enable the Spyder input before physically plugging anything into the port? I have seen large nonsense numbers when the port is enabled, but no CT is installed.

thanks for all your help..

I think your correct about the CT being enabled without no CT installed...  I bet during my setup.. Since the spike occurred close to the time I set it up.. I may have inadvertently enabled one of the CT's that wasn't installed...

This explains everything...LOL   I knew there was a good answer..

Thanks for the tips.. I'll reset my counters.. I'm not worried about my data yet.. But I'll export it anyways...

Cheers!!
