Monitoring amperage draw
« on: July 13, 2014, 12:34:59 AM »
Does the TED Pro allow monitoring of amperage draw?

I'd be interested in this, especially if it allowed amperage draw monitoring of specific circuits via the spyder.

This would be very helpful when running the house via generator during power outages.  We currently use our TED5000 to monitor our kW usage to make sure we don't overload the generator, but can't see amperage draw via the TED5000 - which is important too when using a generator.

On the main MTUs, you can't read amperage directly, but you could presumably back-calculate it from Volts, Power, and Power Factor. On the Spyder outputs, you don't have Power Factor data (just the other two), so there is (AFAIK) no effective way of getting amperage.
