Ted 5000 slow and not keeping data
« on: March 14, 2013, 08:40:58 PM »
Hi there,
My Ted 5000, installed about 2009, has problems for a long time now.
The footprints software starts very slow and the time and date is always off. Checking the box for the internet time server does not help.
Setting the time and date manually is maybe good for a day or so and then it converts back to January 1, 2000.
Once I set the time manually, I can see the current power output and input, but it is very slow and freezes after a few minutes and maybe comes back later.
Graphic does not work. Says it is loading data, but nothing is happening.
My historical data stopped in August last year . . .
BIG MESS !!!!

Is there maybe an internal battery in the gateway, which has to be replaced?

Any suggestions welcome!!

A battery might explain the time, but I have a feeling you've got another problem.  You may have noise on the line that keeps the gateway from hearing the MTU.  Take a look at your stats page.  How is the skips?  Does the MTU Count update as it should?

Thanks, will do that.

in the meantime I tried to update my firmware for the gateway and footprints and after all the downloading, updating, saving the history I have to restore my history from the saved file and it asks me for my username and password . . .
And it does not accept it any longer. Accepted it this morning though.
I was thinking that through the up[dating it lost the old password and i tried it with the generic one "admin/admin" but still no luck.
Everything got stuck now . . .

HELP!!!!! ???

Good Afternoon, PV-Skip,

If you are unable to get back into your Gateway because of the password, unfortunately you'll probably have to reset the gateway to factory defaults and re-enter your settings. There's a small reset button on the side of the TED5000 gateway next to the LED. You'll want to use a BIC pen to press and hold the small button inside that little hole.(You should be able to see the button inside that hole.) Power the gateway up, then gently press and hold that button in until you see the LED flash orange(Usually takes about 30 seconds). This will reset the device back to factory defaults, and you should be able to access Footprints again. If you have any other questions or issues, or just want to have someone walk you through the process, please submit a ticket to www.theenergydetective.com/new-ticket and one of our Tech Support specialists will be happy to assist you.

Have a great day!

Great . . . :-\

Do I have to update the firmware again after resetting the gateway?

Hey PV-Skip,

Yeah, I understand your frustration, and I'm sorry you are having issues with your TED.

If the firmware was successfully updated you should not have to reload it. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to know what your password is/was changed to. Have you tried Admin/Admin? Or just admin/admin?

I aslo tried Admin/Admin, but no luck.

Thing is all the firmware update went fine, just the restoring is not going well. The system tells me that is has restored my data and I have to press the update button and after doing that it asks me for the password.
I know, that my password is correct, because i used it earlier today for activating the enhanced mode. . . .
And now I am at the stage shown in the screen shot.
Somehow it accepts my password (because it is not popping back up) but the progress still is not showing any progress . .
And every time I press update again it asks again for my password.

PV-Skip,

Make sure you are not looking at a cached page. Completely close your browser, delete the history(or use a different browser) and then try to access the TED again. Oftentimes you are actually trying to enter in information on a cached page, and not the actual Footprints.

Cleared all the history and cache etc.
Still the same.
Funny thing is the system told that with the new firmware the password protection had been removed.
Now, when I open footprints the setup wizard pops up right away.
I go to the last tab and restore my settings what it does.
when I go back a few tabs now, I can see that all my settings are restored . . . but now I have to press the update button to send those data to the gateway, right?

And that is where it asks me for the password again and where I get stuck.
As I said, I can see my old settings in the tabs, but the actual footprints dashboard does not show them . . .

PV-Skip,

Good afternoon. We've had some customers call in with problems with their Airport routers, but no reports of issues using Safari. You could always grab copies of Firefox and Chrome, and see if that's the problem.

Thanks for your help so far.
I got it working finally. took me almost a day . . .
I still don't know where my data from August 2012 up to now have been lost.
I can see data from before August 2012 fine. . .
