ALMOST unreachable gateway...

The gateway is ALMOST unreachable:  Once in a while I'm able to open it, but most of the time the web browser times out.  And it will transition: it was initially reachable when I plugged it back in (its been disconnected for a while and I've been too busy to debug it), but it was very slow to load and it stopped responding altogether after 2 minutes.

The light status:  The light on the face is solid green, the blinking light on the side is not blinking.  I unplugged the ethernet and plugged it back in, light on the face shifted to blinking red/green for a while and now is back to solid green, light on the side blinked a couple of times and is now not blinking.

I'm suspecting hardware failure, no?  Is it possibel to just order a replacement gateway?

Opening the gateway up, I saw that the (soldered in) Lithium battery was leaking a little.

I am experiencing almost the same symptoms except I am completely unable to reach my gateway over Ethernet. I have not opened it up...yet.

I started up MCHPDetect this morning before I left for work, when I got home, the output of the program had wrapped the buffer, spitting out

I attempted to connect to the gateway at 192.168.7.2 with my laptop set to the ip 192.168.7.9, and received a timeout in the browser, and destination unreachable with PING.

My switch reports the connection is established at 10mbps, and there are a HUGE number of errors on the interface. I am also seeing the connection flap roughly every 5 minutes in the switch's system log: (Ignore the date, the switch is not set up to sync time to anything)

the LED indicators on the gateway appear functional.

I get a LINK and Activity light for the ethernet port.
the Green LED on the front blinks, it's not solid. Every now and then (5 minutes?) it alternates between green and red.
The LED on the side blinks green about once a second, occasionally blinks amber.

I suggest that you attempt to connect to Footprints directly if you find you're unable to connect via Ethernet. The instructions for a direct connection are found in Appendix A of our user manual, which can be downloaded from this page: http://www.theenergydetective.com/download.

I just wanted to update this thread with what I did to resolve the issue in case someone else is running into the same.

I believe I reset the device to factory settings using the recessed button above the receive powerline signal light on the side of the device (I'm not completely sure that's a reset button, but i pushed it anyway)

I hooked up a CROSSOVER cable (I didn't do that before writing this post) and manually set my PC to an IP address in the 192.168.7.0/24 network (the TED will default to 192.168.7.2, so don't use that one).

I was able to pull up the footprints software in a normal browser and set the TED to use an IP on my network.
