Footprints on Win7?
« on: July 09, 2011, 06:08:42 PM »
I have a TED1001 and the footprints software but I have a Windows7 computer.
Initially Footprints wouldn't run at all.
Then I started it using the XP Service pack 2 compatibility mode and now Footprints starts.
But Footprints says that TEDService is not running and I need to start it.
I do that: tools->logging service->start but I don't get any indication that anything is happening.
I don't see anything new in task manager either so I suspect that the service is not starting.

Is there a diagnostic mode of some sort?

I downloaded the latest version - 1.3.5.0.
I set the COM port to COM4 which is the TED so I think the FTDI drivers are fine. Windows claims the ports are functioning.

finally got it to work. Not exactyl sure what I did or if it will restart after a reboot but:

The trick was to ctlr-alt-del and open the task manager, then click on the Services tab, find TEDService which status was Stopped, then just click on Start and then Footprints was able to connect to the service and it is running fine.
